Natural Areas Conservation Training

Last year I had started taking classes at the Morton Arboretum for what had previously been called the Woodland Stewardship program, now N-ACT. I took the orientation and the introduction classes, Basic Plant ID, Ecosystem Concepts, and Tool Use for Natural Areas Management. I loved tromping around the woods and prairie, learning about the plants and trees.

Then other things got in the way. It’s a long drive and suddenly I had no extra time. I was also struggling to find some way to fulfill the volunteer hours requirement, I was constantly wrestling my anxiety and not getting anywhere with signing up for something, not for lack of choices. I’m hoping to get started on the program again this spring. Feels like I can figure something out now.
