Rutherford-Bohr Models

A photograph of a student holding a model of a molecule in a science classroom. Superimposed on the image is an illustration of a Rutherford-Bohr style drawing of a chlorine atom.

Drawing atoms from the periodic table isn’t too hard, but it is pretty time-consuming. So take advantage of my handiwork with these diagrams of the first 20 elements in the periodic table. I’ve drawn them in three different styles: OutlineSolid Black, and Valence Shell. Or grab the Bundle for all three.

Each of the style sets contains 3 sets of 20 images in black and white. One set has the atom’s symbol on the nucleus, the second has the number of protons and neutrons, and the third has an unlabeled nucleus. There are also several blank models for explaining processes and for worksheets, with full electron shells and with empty shells. Each individual set has 76 files; the bundle has 212 files in total.

The font used in this set is Alegreya Bold, a free font by Juan Pablo del Peral, in case you would like to use it in your project.

Throwback Thursday, Makey Makey

A peek in the archives at some of my older work.

A cute illustration I ‘inked’ in Adobe Illustrator. It shows how to use the Makey Makey Go, a little prototyping board for experimenting and inventing.

October TPT Freebie, Mad Science!

It’s time for the TPT Clip Artists’ Collaboration October freebies. The theme this month is Mad Science! I’m giving away a specimen jar (really a silly toy centipede in an olive jar) as a companion to my DIY Science Supplies clip art set.

In the freebie product description are links to all the other participating sellers’ products. Collect them all to create a mad scientist’s laboratory scene!

SEI Infographic, Portfolio Update

I recently created this proposal for a potential client. The job didn’t work out, but the subject matter is interesting and I’m happy with the design.

Delaware Wildlife Infographic, Portfolio Update

I love to visit the parks, ponds, and natural areas of southern Delaware when I’m there visiting family. I also enjoy researching local native plants and animals; it’s an interesting climate. I thought I should put my love of exploring the area to good use making some more current pieces to fill out my portfolio and practice some of the more interesting features of design software, such as making graphs in Adobe Illustrator, by creating this infographic on Delaware wildlife and public lands.

New Products: Bohr Models

I’ve added a new science set collection to my TPT store! Take a look at these Bohr Models Clip Art sets, featuring drawings of the first 20 elements in the periodic table. There are several variations in each set: once with the atom’s symbol on the nucleus, a second with the number of protons and neutrons, and a third with an unlabeled nucleus. They also include blank models for worksheets.

New Products: Al Be C 123

I received the samples of the Al Be C 123 fabric I ordered and they look very nice. No need for changes this time and now they are for sale on spoonflower. I also discovered spoonflower’s partner site, sproutpatterns, where you can order patterns laid out on any spoonflower fabric you like. I think the Oxford blue colorway looks quite smart as a dress.
